The OTAL-C (Offset Tactical Aiming Laser, Class 1 IR) is the 1st commercially available Mil Spec infrared laser. With a 0.7mW rating, the Steiner OTAL-C IR Laser 9056 is eye-safe and not regulated by the FDA. Compared to 5mW+ IR lasers utilized by Warfighters and LE Professionals, its lower output is ideal for targeting out to 400-450 yds, which covers the majority of ranges users engage targets at night.
This Steiner OTAL C IR Laser utilizes a 0.7mW Infrared output and is low powered, making it eye-safe at distances up to 400 yards. It has a good divergence and shape, which makes it easy to spot, although it may become harder to see at close range in bright environments, particularly with light walls. The pointer is still visible for targeting, however, and is more easily discernible in darker settings. Keep in mind, a Class1 ir laser sight will be less visible when in proximity to another light source.
Built on the reliable OTAL model, the Class1 variation has no visible differences. The Steiner OTAL-C (IR) boasts the same housing and optics components as its Class IIIa sibling. Each unit is comprised of a Mil Spec anodized, air-grade aluminum shell with Steiner's excellent HT Throw Lever Mount. These cases are highly durable and are commonly used on active duty fronts. The OTAL variant is an offset targeting laser with an off-center emitter for rifles with standard front sight bases. The HT Throw Lever Mount requires no tools to adjust if the rails are out of spec.
The 9056 OTAL-C IR features 3 modes: On, Off, and Momentary. This third mode is implemented with an optional remote pressure pad. Compatibility with standard laser pressure pads is assured by the inclusion of a new standard port. Compatible accessories include the Steiner pad, Insight Pads, and Surefire Dual SRO7D switches.

The OTAL “Offset: Aiming Laser” IR features a low-profile and lightweight design with an infrared laser that when used with night vision devices will engage targets out to 250 meters. The Class I IR beam projects around the front sight. The Quick Release HT mount fits any NATO 1913 or Picatinny rail.
