The AGM Varmint LRF series of thermal riflescopes builds on the popular features of the Rattler product family with one major upgrade: a 600-meter integrated laser rangefinder (LRF). This addition addresses a common issue in digital optics—lack of depth perception—by providing precise distance measurements. The Varmint LRF TS35-640 pairs this LRF functionality with a 12-micron 640x512 thermal detector and a high-quality 1024x768 OLED display, delivering clear and accurate thermal imaging.

Powered by a single, non-proprietary 18650 rechargeable battery, the Varmint LRF offers up to 4.5 hours of continuous use in the field. Its compact design allows for dual-use as a handheld monocular, making it versatile for surveying surroundings before beginning a hunt. This functionality is enhanced by a high-quality American Defense Manufacturing quick-detach mount, which allows for quick transitions between uses.

In addition to its physical features, the Varmint LRF offers built-in recording, Wi-Fi compatibility through the AGM Connect app, external power support via a mini USB port, multiple reticle and color palette options, and 16GB of internal storage. All these features make it one of the most versatile products in AGM's lineup. Backed by AGM’s 5-year transferable warranty, the Varmint LRF is a reliable and highly functional choice for hunters.

GREAT THERMO

THERE ARE THINGS THAT I WISH I KNEW GOING INTO THIS.
FIRST THE MOUNT. THE MOUNT COULD BE MUCH MORE STABLE THAN OFFERING JUST "1" CLAMP. YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-ZERO THIS EVERY TIME YOU TAKE IT OFF YOUR WEAPON. I DO ANYWAYS.

2ND. BATTERY LIFE. BATTERY LIFE IS AWFUL COMPARED TO THE INFINAY RICO. BATTERY LIFE IN COLD CONDITIONS IS HORRIBLE. IN 20 DEGREE WEATHER YOU WILL GET MAYBE 20 MINUTES OUT OF FULLY CHARGED BATTERY BEFORE CHANGING IT. IN WARM WEATHER, IT IS MUCH BETTER! YOU WILL GET 45 MINUTES. THAT STILL ISNT GOOD IF YOU PLAN ON DOING SEVERAL COYOTE STANDS IN A NIGHT. BETTER BRING SOME BATTERIES!

3RD: DOWNLOADING YOUR VIDEOS. I HAVE BEEN WITH OTHERS THAT HAVE DIFFERANT THERMALS. THEIR VIDEOS ARE DOWNLOADED WITHIN SECONDS. THIS WILL TAKE LITERALLY 10 MINUTES. THAT IS IF THE THERMAL WANT TO CONNECT TO THE PHONE.

4TH. (THE POSITIVE) THE OBJECTIVE IS PRETTY GOOD, I WATCH COYOTES FROM WELL OVER 1000 YRDS AWAY COMING IN. HAPPY WITH THAT.

5TH: THIS SCOPE IS VERY USER FRIENDLY. VERY EASY TO FIGURE OUT.

CONCLUSION: FOR THE MONEY, I WITH I WOULD HAVE SPENT JUST A BIT MORE TO GET THE INFIRAY RICO PRO 640. THAT THING BLOWS THE DOORS OFF THIS SCOPE. WITH THAT BEING SAID, NO. THIS THERMO IS NOT WORTH THIS MONEY. IT IS A GOOD THERMO. JUST NOT WORTH $4

Brady, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and honest review. I really appreciate you laying out both the positives and the concerns, as that kind of real world feedback helps others make informed decisions.

You bring up some very valid points, especially regarding battery performance in cold weather and the mounting setup. Cold temperatures can have a significant impact on battery life across many thermals, but I understand how frustrating that can be during longer nights in the field. Your notes on video transfer speed and connectivity are also helpful insights for anyone considering this unit.

I am glad to hear the detection range and objective performance are meeting your expectations, and that the unit is user friendly and easy to navigate. Those are definitely important strengths.

I truly appreciate you choosing Night Vision Universe and taking the time to share your experience in such detail.

Really nice infrared light—it completely illuminates the area! The AGM NVG-40 NL1 Gen 2+ night vision goggles perform so well on their own that they rarely require an extra illuminator, but having this available is a game-changer in pitch-black rooms or areas with zero ambient light

Thank you for the detailed review! I'm glad to hear the infrared illuminator is performing so well with your AGM NVG-40 NL1 Gen 2+ night vision goggles.
