The NVD-BNVD-SG Binocular is a dual-tube night vision goggle with advanced gain control capabilities, designed for superior performance and flexibility. It features a single gain control knob that adjusts both eyepieces simultaneously, allowing users to modulate tube brightness based on ambient light conditions. Users can lower the gain in bright environments or increase it in extremely dark conditions for optimal vision.
The BNVD-SG offers the versatility to be used as a monocular, enabling the operator to rotate one monocular arm out of the way while keeping the other in place. This configuration allows the device to function as either a dual-eye or single-eye system, which is particularly useful when combining night vision with weapon-mounted sighting equipment, all while preserving nighttime situational awareness. Despite its dual-tube system and additional features, the BNVD-SG is significantly lighter than the AN/PVS-7 single-tube goggle.
A key feature is the Tactical Monocular Cutoff, which automatically powers down each monocular channel when rotated out of the user's line of sight, preventing stray light that could reveal the user's position. Additionally, the BNVD-SG has an automatic power cutoff when flipped up into the stow position on a helmet mount and powers back on when flipped down. This feature can be disabled using a four-position ON/OFF switch.

- Compatible with 3X Afocal Magnifiers, which can be attached by sliding or screwing them onto the objective lenses, turning the BNVD-SG into a fixed 3X magnification binocular.
- The optional external battery pack requires an external power port to extend the system's runtime. The power port must be added during assembly, as it cannot be modified later.
- The BNVD-SG is rigorously tested for US Military and DoD EMI compliance, conforming to MIL-STD-461G, RE102, RS101, and RS103, ensuring minimal electronic emissions and high resistance to electromagnetic interference (EMI).
