I preferred the APS-2 over the APS-3, because I didn't want the hassle of fumbling around for the taller battery cap that the APS-3 requires. With the internal battery In my thermion XP-50, and the (now) 2 external batteries, I can leave my scope on for about 7 hours, which is just perfect for our normal hog hunting escapades.
